I over 20 år har trening, og da spesielt styrketrening, vært en del av hverdagen min. Fitness ble tidlig noe som fanget min interesse, og jeg var med i 3 konkurranser tidlig på 2000-tallet. Den gangen hadde ikke Bikini fitness kommet til Norge, så jeg testet Athletic fitness og Body fitness.

Jeg har vært inne på tanken om å stille i Bikini Fitness i seinere tid, men hadde i grunnen slått det fra meg. Både fordi det aldri har vært et mål for meg å satse på eller gjøre det bra innenfor den sporten, men også fordi alderen har sneket seg på, og det som nevnt, ikke har vært viktig for meg. Det har kun vært noe jeg har gjort for moro skyld. Det har vært gøy å teste ut, siden jeg uansett har holdt på med styketrening og hatt en såkalt «fitness-livsstil» i bunnen.

MEN, i fjor ble jeg oppfordret av ei som studerte ernæring ved NIH, om å bli med på en studie i regi av dem. Hun var med på å gjennomføre forskningsprosjektet og mente det ville være interessant for studien om jeg ble med på det. Dette innebar da at jeg var nødt til å delta i en fitnesskonkurranse. Valget ble da tatt. Jeg ble med i studien og deltok i Bikini fitness Master i Sandefjord Open og i NM.

Jeg startet på diett 29. mai 2017. Rett i forkant av det var jeg inne og tok en såkalt DXA-scanning samt andre målinger. Fettprosenten min ble da målt til 15,2%. Jeg fikk ved studiens slutt vite at gjennomsnittlig fettprosent på deltakerene ved konkurranse var på 15-16%. Det vil si at jeg var i relativt god form i utgangspunktet. Jeg lå allerede lavere enn det som er anbefalt for kvinner. Nå har jeg alltid vært veldig slank/tynn helt fra jeg var barn, men uansett anbefales ikke en så lav fettprosent av helsemssige årsaker. Husk det.

Ved diettens start hadde jeg ordnet meg med en veldig dyktig coach som fulgte meg opp hele veien. Jeg startet dietten og var i gang. Det gikk veldig greit, jeg gjorde så godt som ingen cardio, trente kun styrke. Treningen hadde jeg full kontroll på selv. Selv på underskudd kunne jeg prestere bra på trening så godt som hele veien. Jeg ble til og med sterkere! Noe måling nr. 2 ved NIH kunne bekrefte da jeg var og sjekket status halvveis i dietten. Da hadde jeg lagt på meg ca 1,5 kg muskelmasse samtidig som jeg hadde mistet ca 2 kg fettmasse!

De siste 2-3 ukene da fettprosenten min hadde kommet ned i ca 10% begynte jeg å føle meg sliten, jeg hadde ikke så mye energi lenger og det var tøft å pushe seg på trening. Styrken var ikke den samme. En slik påkjenning, som det jo er både for kroppen og det mentale, tar på. Man må virkelig VILLE gjennomføre noe sånt. Selv om det for min del gikk relativt greit, var det stunder hvor jeg hadde lyst til å gi f***. Men jeg hadde tatt en valg, jeg hadde forpliktelser i forhold til NIH og forskningsprosjektet der. I tillegg følte jeg på forpliktelse og ansvarsfølelse i forhold til coachen min.

Hadde det ikke vært for at jeg følte på at jeg måtte følge opp i forhold til andres forventninger om at jeg gjennomførte på best mulig måte, er det ikke sikkert resultatet hadde blitt like bra. Da er det godt mulig ( og ganske sannsynlig) at jeg hadde sabotert mer for meg selv. Derfor er det så utrolig viktig med en coach som støtter, ansvarliggjør deg og kommer med tilbakemeldinger. Ikke bare ved ekstreme tilfeller som oppkjøring mot konkurranse, men også når man ønsker å ta grep om livsstilen sin! Anbefaler alle som tenker på å hyre en coach for å endre på noe når det kommer til trening, kosthold og livsstil, om å gjøre det! Man kommer SÅ mye lenger og får mye bedre og raskere resultater når man får hjelp av noen som kan det! Det er virkelig verdt pengene.

En annen ting mange erfarer er utfordrende når man setter i gang med endringer, er at de rundt en kan ha en tendens til å sabotere litt. Sannsynligvis ikke med vilje, men jeg har selv erfart kommentarer som; «Men kan du ikke BARE bli med å spise/drikke… o.l.» Da må man ha en ekstra styrke og bestemthet i seg for å stå imot, det kan være tøft til tider, men det må til. Det er ikke noe som heter BARE når man vil ha resultater. Da er man nødt til å ha FOKUS, gjøre det man vet at man skal og må gjøre, og ikke la seg forstyrre og påvirke av andre som syns og mener det ene og det andre om det man holder på med.

Oppkjøringen min mot konkurranse må jeg konkludere med at gikk veldig fint. Formen var som den skulle når konkurransedagen(e) var der og jeg hadde en god erfaring med det. Jeg kom til finalen i begge konkurransene og sa meg fornøyd med det, jeg hadde (og har) mye å gå på når det kommer til presentasjon av fysikken min og sceneopptreden. Der er det mye å hente, men jeg har ingen planer om å stille igjen, selv om det var veldig gøy!

Å delta i fitness-konkurranser krever litt for mye av en til at det er verdt det for min del. Jeg vil heller ha fokuset mitt andre steder. Som å hjelpe andre med å oppnå det de vil av mål og ønsker for seg selv. Det gir meg personlig så mye mer! Jeg simpelthen digger å se andre vokse og bli sterkere utgaver av seg selv både fysisk og mentalt, det er virkelig noe som driver meg!
